Mambi Happy Planner-My New Obsession

Guess who's back, back...back again! Hello, my planner people! I know it been a while since my last blog post and I apologize!

Today I have a special planner post for you guys! I told myself after I bought my Michael's Recollections Planner that I wasn't going to buy another planner for a while...well that didn't exactly go as planned (haha planner pun). So as any planner, I enjoy watching "Plan With Mes" on YouTube, and checking out planner layouts in the Facebook groups and Pinterest; and I recently ran across something known as the Mambi Happy Planner. This planner is a game changer. Let's dive right in!

Unlike the Filofax and Erin Condren planners, the Happy Planner uses a disc system, also known as the ARC system. The Staples Arc Planner uses this same system, Martha Stewart teamed up with Staples and made tons of inserts, that you can still find on Amazon today. The pages are removable by slits in them. It is actually pretty great. It opens a whole world of possibilities with this particular planner

Mambi made some great planners. Each design is unique to each planner. So the one that I bought (Fresh Florals) has a very western/floral theme.

The planner is an 18-month planner and can be bought at Hobby LobbyMichael's and on the Mambi website. There is definitely one for everyone. They just released the Faith Planner and it is booming in popularity.

Of course, there are a plethora of inserts, from wedding planning to a fitness pack. There's stickers, washi, pens and other fun doodads for this planner. I bought a set of folders for receipts and stickers. They also released a Home Planner extension which is super popular! I've got some pictures to share of some of the fun things I've bought!

I'm sure you are wondering what kind of planning system this planner has, and I'm here to share it with you. Just like the Erin Condren this planner uses the vertical planning system. I thought for years that this wouldn't work for me. I told myself that I wouldn't use this planner and put off buying it for a while. Well, I wish I knew how wrong I was. The vertical planning style actually works so much better for me! I'm a list maker by nature, so this works wonderfully for me. I can group things by importance and by category.

But Sam, what about price? Good question! The Happy Planner runs about thirty dollars, forty dollars if you buy the BIG Happy Planner, which is the size of a normal piece of printer paper. A little too large for me personally! Michael's and Hobby Lobby have coupons all the time for 40% and 50% off an item. I got my Happy Planner using a coupon and paid only 17.99 for mine. I'd definitely wait for a coupon if you are still on the fence about this planner.

So one last thing! Covers. You can design and make your own cover for your planner, which is SO FREAKING COOL. I literally screamed when I found out you can make your own. I made a trial one to see how difficult it would be, surprisingly it was very simple.

I'm kinda in love with it, but not committed. I'll probably make another one pretty soon.

Anyways, this is my Happy Planner and I hope that I've given you some insight on the planner itself. Please comment below and tell me what you love about your Happy Planners!! Also, don't forget I've got a huge giveaway going on! Go drop a like on my Facebook page to be entered to win!

New Planner-Michael's Recollections Planner

Hello lovelies!

I'm back with another installment of the life of a nerdy unicorn! Today I have a ton in store for you! Let's get started!!!

So as I'm sure you've all seen on Instagram, Facebook and in store; Michael's has a new planner. They just released a line of personal planners, called Recollections Planners. They are faux leather with a snap enclosure. There's ten color options. I opted for the lovely Metallic Blush color. Its like Kikki K and Filofax had a baby. It's that great.

The planner is very affordable, I paid 12.00 for mine with a coupon. They run about 19.99 normally. It's definitely worth it to wait for a Michael's coupon to put towards it. Let's move on to the inside!

So when you open the planner up, you have three credit card sized slots, one pocket and a secretarial pocket. I have washi samples, business cards and a project life card in my smaller pockets, and some half boxes and some other stickers in the secretarial pocket.

The planner did come with three clear and gold dividers along with some lined paper, to-do lists, and some graph paper. The bookmark is HelloPaperCat.

As you can see I use one as a protector for some pretty galaxy scrap book paper. It also just looks nice. I use another one in the back of my planner to hold sticky notes. These are Target dollar spot sticky notes.

The back of the planner has one large pocket and a space for a notepad. I put a Target dollar spot notepad back there and some Target dollar spot page flags.

So the planner does not come with inserts. Those are sold separately for 9.99. They have four different styles. I use the Rainbow inserts. The layout is week on two pages (WO2P) and month on two pages (MO2P). The inserts are also undated, which is how I prefer my inserts personally.

I think its great that these inserts are reusable. They don't sell refills yet, but I hope that is something they decide to do!

This is an incredible line. There is a huge line of products, including washi, stickers, inserts and so much more! This is a great planner if you are just starting off with a planner or if you are on a budget. I highly recommend this planner. The colors are great, the paper quality is wonderful and it's a great on the go planner.

So this post turned out really long... I'm sorry fort that guys. I do have plans to go in a little deeper with the Recollections planner. Thanks for reading and follow me on InstagramFacebook and Bloglovin.

I'm also doing a giveaway when my Facebook page reaches 150 followers!

Mail Call!!

Hello again my unicorns!!

Today it's rather rainy and gloomy in the South; but not for this unicorn! I'm here with a quick post for you guys on some mail I've been waiting to arrive so I can share with you guys!

About six days ago I placed an order online at HELLOPAPERCAT. You guys should really check her out, like she has the cutest paper products! I'd found out about her through YouTube and just had to place an order. So without further ado, let me share my haul with you guys!!
My original order
So of course my original order would be...all unicorns...
These bookmarks are magnetic and look stunning in my planner, they are high quality. They are glossy and absolutely lovely.

Honestly I was only expecting my original order...BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! HELLOPAPERCAT included two bookmarks for free!! How amazing is that?

The Pokeball and Ariel were unexpected goodies!

Seriously, how sweet is this girl? Also, how cute is her business card? I love, love love these so much! I will be placing an order for her grab bag in a few weeks, I can't wait to use them in my planner and happy mail! Thank you again HELLOPAPERCAT for this amazing order!!

Hopefully I'll be back with some more information on my YouTube channel! (still fiddling around with that)

Until we meet again!
Stay Magical!

Let's Talk Planners!

Welcome back my unicorns!!

I'm here today to discuss planners with you! As we all know the planner community is monumental, there are tons of planners out there! Filofax, Erin Condren, Franklin Covey and Plum Planner to name a few. Personally I am a Filofax gal, and A5 is my size of choice. You can find all of these planners on their respective websites and YouTube.

I am currently using an  A5 Fluero Pink Filofax. I love this planner. Its real leather, lays flat and is a beautiful bright, hot pink. I bought it online overseas in the UK, unfortunately the website no longer exists. This planner holds A LOT. Its very versatile and lovely.

As you know a Filofax is a six ring binder system; you can interchange the "guts" of the planner and make it your own. I make my own tab dividers and I've broken my planner down into 6 sections:

  • Calendar
  • Blog
  • To-Do
  • Finances
  • Notes
  • Misc

I just used scrapbook paper from a book I got at Michael's and traced the dividers that came with the planner.

My dashboard is a piece of scrapbook paper with a unicorn printed on it...go figure. it didn't print quite well, but it looks pretty good for the most part. Everytime I open my planner it makes me so happy to see my dashboard.

In my calendar section I am using the Filofax WO2P inserts. They work really well for me, I tend to write fairly big. Of course you can order inserts in different layouts and paper types on Etsy (like Kiddy QualiaChasingPlannerPeace, and AussiePlannerChick, which is something I'd like to try at some point.

I am however using calendar on two pages inserts by elizaellis. The colors are so beautiful and perfect!! They are undated, so they never go out of style.

STICKERS!

Stickers are love. Stickers are life. Seriously, I could not plan my life without stickers to look at and use while I plan. Most of my stickers are unicorns....ya know...uh not biased or anything. Stickers bring your planner to life in my opinion, it makes me want to plan because my layout becomes pretty to look at instead of just bland and white. I also use the Avery Round Color Coding Labels for things like marking payday and feeding days for my geckos. They are also removable, so you can move them around. Sweeeeet! Those shark stickers though!

Those green dots are the Avery Color Coding Dots :3

WASHI TAPE!

Washi tape is pretty awesome and you'll see it in a lot of planners, including mine. I use it very minimally. Sometimes I make flag or use them to attach something to a page, maybe accent a little, but not much. So because I don't use a lot of washi, I ordered this. Its a masking tape set that has like eighty-one sheets. They come in pre-cut strips and dots. Perfect for me!

I like to make my own bookmarks, so I made one for my blog section that I can stick sticky notes to and move around as needed.

Aaaaaannnnnndddd....its a unicorn. I'm kind of obsessed.

STICKY NOTES!

Sticky notes are a planner must. I love brainstorming and brain dumping on them. I'll make quick lists on them, doodle, ect. I made a dashboard with one of the clear, punched flyleafs that came with my planner and I've stuck some of the sticky notes from the Target Dollar Spot (which is like planner heaven btw) and they are just so pretty and bright.

So that's not everything in my planner, and I plan (<--- lol) on sharing more with you guys as we go!

I'm waiting on some magnetic bookmarks from HelloPaperCat and I'd like to go into depth with those and maybe discuss a coming up YouTube video!!

Stay Magical,

Sam

Welcome!!!

Hello lovelies!

Welcome to my Unicorn life!

Let's start with some introductions! I am Sam, 23, female and living in the Southern US. I am obsessed with all things glitter, unicorns, nerdy and planning! I am the mother of two rambunctious guinea pigs, Kingsley and Gildoroy; as well as a handful of leopard geckos (I'll link my Instagram for that!)

I am breathing life into this blog to share with you my journey into the planning world! I did at one time try to actively plan but I got distracted with life and derailed; but I'm starting anew. I look forward to helping others reach planning nirvana with me.

Currently I'm brainstorming ways to open a shop and become an online business entrepreneur. I haven't really figured all that out yet, but I will. Determination is everything! 2017 will be my start date to get on track with an actual plan, I'm still in the blueprint stage. >.< It's all coming together though!

I'm looking forward to meeting you all and creating a world filled with unicorns and planners!

Best,

Sam
